Hello again,

Here is the latest edition of the Madagascar Gems and Rough Bulletin. We hope you find it informative and entertaining.

We are working hard to bring you the best of the many varieties of gem rough mined in Madagascar.

The cyclone season appears to be over... until November.

Gilbert is developing a new sapphire source! These fields are in the Northern part of Madagascar.

The good news is the area is beginning to produce clean blue sapphires of 0.5 to 1+ grams each. This rough appears to offer high yields. The 0.5 g stones appear to be capable of yielding a 1 carat finished gem.

Better yet, because this is a new source, prices are more affordable!

With the production from this new source, we believe we can supply you with 20 grams per month for the foreseeable future.

More good news (for Gilbert) is... this is a much safer area in which to operate. There are fewer gangsters here than in the southern fields.

These stones are being purchased by our standing order customers before we can even ship them from Madagascar to the USA.
