Hello again. Here is the latest from Madagascar Gems. Gem mining is recovering from the strong cyclones that battered Madagascar this past season. Gilbert has been able to complete three trips into the bush to locate rough. He reports that on his last expedition it took six hours to negotiate the last 50 kilometers. The many streams in these rain-forested mountains continue to be swollen. Gilbert was able to fill most current orders and buy some additional rough for me to use as samples when I visit the Las Vegas Gem Shows at the end of May. I will be showing... Blue sapphire, iolite, beryl, sphene, green kornerupine, green fluorite, green apatite, blue apatite, yellow apatite, citrine, cognac citrine, spessartite, Marolambo rhodolite, hessonite, and possibly others. None of the above parcels have been "spoken for" at this time. They can be spoken for now, and will be for sale and delivery after the shows (~June 3). For more details on a parcel, you can... . Within the past week my wife and I have completed our annual migration from our place in Phoenix to the one just South of Flagstaff Arizona. The day we left Phoenix, the temperate reached 105. It was 79 in Flagstaff. We will hang out here until mid-October, and go back to Phoenix before Flagstaff receives its first snow. This move is why some emails were answered late, and a couple of order shipments were delayed a day. We had a visit from a few elk yesterday, which is always entertaining. I didn't have a camera handy, so here's photos taken from our back door one overcast day last summer. Beyond the fence is the Coconino National Forest.
Summer in Flagstaff is cool, relaxing, and entertaining. There is much to see and do around here. It is one more reason to do business through the internet.
