Madagascar Dangers
Madagascar dangers abound. They lurk in the bush and
around the corner... or just down the road in many of the mining and trading
centers.
Madagascar dangers certainly confront Gilbert as he
travels the bush to source gem rough for you.

But the real dangers are the bad guy.- gangsters...
as they are termed, routinely target and victimize people in the gem business.
It has become so common that the government is moving in
soldiers to supplement police in some areas, including the sapphire fields of
Tulear Province.
Even so, a pistol and a shotgun are welcome companions for
most ger traders.
Gilbert recently sent me a couple of news articles from
the local newspaper. I ran the text of the stories through some French to

Toliara
Attacks to hand army deadly
Thursday,
a clash between the forces of the order and outlaws did three deaths in the city
of Toliara. The

Ilakaka
A
death at the time of a shooting in a hotel Ilakaka was in turmoil, yesterday.
